Spark Tank Junior

Lighting the Spark of Possibility In collaboration with Saibabapath Mumbai Public School, Mumbai

Welcome to Spark Tank Junior

Welcome to Spark Tank Junior at Saibabapath Mumbai Public School, a government-run school in Mumbai that serves over 1,000 students, many of whom come from underserved communities.

The initiative was inspired by the format of Shark Tank, reimagined for middle and senior schoolers, and tailored to help students discover the power of innovation, entrepreneurship, and confidence in their own ideas.

Empowering Young Innovators

We hold interactive workshops for students in Grades 7 to 9 on topics such as:

  • Ideation: Turning everyday problems into big ideas
  • Budgeting: Learning the basics of cost, pricing, and value
  • Marketing: Understanding how to share your idea with the world
  • Product Development: Prototyping with whatever materials we had on hand

Each session is hands-on and collaborative. Students role-played as marketers, draw up product sketches, created models, and work in teams to build something they can be proud of. The program culminates in Pitch Day, where students present their projects to real entrepreneurs acting as judges.

Ideas shared

One of the most memorable pitches came from a group that proposed repurposing discarded water bottles into decorative items to beautify their homes and communities.
The ideas proposed were rooted in community problems, imagined and executed by students who had never been asked, “What would you build if you could?”

Looking Ahead

At the end of our final session, the students made me promise to return over the summer - a promise I happily kept.
The spirit of entrepreneurship, after all, is more than just business. It's about imagination, courage, and hope. In each child I met, I saw all three - sparks waiting to be ignited.

A Shared Journey

‘Kiara showed compassion while she approached each child with patience, kindness, and respect… She has opened their eyes to possibility, instilled confidence, and quite literally changed their lives.”
